Cleaner air, healthier High Road

We wanted to thank the hundreds of residents who signed Lambeth Labour’s petition calling for action to be taken to clean up the high levels of traffic pollution in South London.

Thanks to your support, cleaner engines have already been fitted on highly polluting buses using Streatham High Road. And our new Mayor, Sadiq Khan, has confirmed that the route will be a Clean Air Corridor – meaning that buses will have hybrid engine technology which release fewer harmful toxins into our environment.

As part of the Our Streets programme, work will start this year on slowing down and reducing traffic on some of the main residential roads through our ward, and on improving pedestrian and cycle routes.  Look our for details of the proposals shortly.

We will also continue to push TfL to create a Cycle Quietway locally.
